Upcoming events at the Fairbanks Library

Teens in 6th -12th grades are invited to join us this week, on Friday the 13th, at 3:30 pm, for a scary movie about a family that is trying to prevent evil spirits from trapping their comatose child in a realm called the Further. Click here to find out the title. This movie is rated PG-13. Popcorn and drinks will be provided.

Also, as a result of our recent flood, a group call Texans Recovering Together will be presenting a program in the library’s meeting room on Wednesday, May 18, at 1:30, about disaster assistance and recovery. Click here for a larger view of the flyer.

Texans Recovering Together

Think, Create, Share

All you creators and inventors will want to carve out some time next Tuesday evening, December 8th at 7 p.m. and come to the Katy MakerSpace here at Maud Marks Library.  All ages and disciplines are welcome.  See what new ideas others are implementing and how you can be a part of it.  Or bring your own creation to work on and share.  You are sure to have a great time and maybe learn something new.  See you there!

We Give Thanks

All of us here at Maud Marks are so thankful for our wonderful customers!  What a great year we have had so far.  Thank you all for your patience and understanding during our migration to our new system last week.  We know that it was a bit frustrating but you all "hung in there" with us!  Just a reminder that we close at 5 pm. next Wednesday, November 25 and will be closed Thursday through Sunday, November 26-29 for the Thanksgiving holiday.  We wish everyone a great Thanksgiving with family, friends and food.  Come back and see us Monday, November 30.

APE threw a Chirstmas party for kids, and it went great!

The Aldine Project Experience (our artistic teen volunteers) planned out a full children's program for this party. They researched children's crafts online. Then our volunteers tried the crafts out to decide which were the best based on kid's abilities, and how fun they were. They planned out a holiday snack menu (hot chocolate, chocolate chip cookies, candy canes, and even a healthy option of apple slices with peanut butter), and ordered the activities (crafts, then snacks, then a holiday movie).

National Mystery Month Movie!

Come and join us to watch a 1980's classic. Produced by Steven Spielberg and Henry Winkler, Directed by Barry Levinson, and written by Christopher Columbus, this sleeper is not incredibly well known, but still a great film.  The movie starts at 4pm on Monday, October 1.  It'll be a great way to kick off National Mystery Month.
