APE threw a Chirstmas party for kids, and it went great!

The Aldine Project Experience (our artistic teen volunteers) planned out a full children's program for this party. They researched children's crafts online. Then our volunteers tried the crafts out to decide which were the best based on kid's abilities, and how fun they were. They planned out a holiday snack menu (hot chocolate, chocolate chip cookies, candy canes, and even a healthy option of apple slices with peanut butter), and ordered the activities (crafts, then snacks, then a holiday movie).

Prom Closet Gearing Up for Another Great Season

video still shotThe library Prom Closet is getting ready for another season of glitz and glamour, and our own Elise Sheppard, teen librarian, was interviewed about it last Friday by Channel 13’s Patricia Lopez.  The Prom Closet provides dresses to teens who are unable to buy a dress or for those on a tight budget. And really, aren't we all on a budget these days?  The dresses are free and for the girls to keep. The interview will air in March just before prom season. Last year’s interview helped double the number of recipients!
