A Monster Calls at the Library

We all have monsters in our dreams, but would you want to see them come to life? Teens and tweens, join us for some fun with prints on canvas this Tuesday, January 10th at 4 pm at the Galena Park Branch Library. Based on the book "A Monster Calls" by Patrick Ness and the new movie coming out, we will create our monsters using acrylic paints and everyday items. Tween Time:Game Day!

 Calling all board gamers!  Join us Wednesday, December 30 at 2:30pm for Tween Time when we'll play traditional games and enjoy refreshments. We have a few new additions to our collection, so don't miss out on the fun! Tween Time Autism Craft

Did you know April is Autism Awareness Month? Create your own puzzle with us this Wednesday, April 29 at 4:30pm and hear about tips for socializing with those on the spectrum by a guest speaker. Wear blue! We'll have blue cupcakes & drinks too!  Informational materials will also be available. Recommended for ages 10-12 years or anyone interested this month...

Designer Eggs

Calling all tweens-it's time for a Spring Fling this Wednesday, March 25 at 4:30pm! We'll be designing our own eggs with animal prints, metallic and fuzzy effects and more...All materials are supplied and we'll gather in the Public Meeting Room. Recommended for ages 10-12 years.

Tween Time Program: Make a Liquid Rainbow!

rainbowTweens, it may be rainy this week, but you know what comes after the rain---rainbows!  Join us for our June Tween Time as we will be experimenting with liquid density and creating Liquid Rainbows.  Free tickets are required for this program and are available at the front desk. So come down to North Channel Library on Wednesday, June 25th @ 4:30 pm.  This program is geared towards tweens age 10-12.

 

 

Teen Volunteering

 

Want to volunteer this summer? Are you in middle school or high school? Well, Teen Volunteer Training is a must for you! On June 11th at 5:00, you can find out what it takes to be a volunteer at the library. We will cover your responsibilities and what you can expect when you arrive. This training is mandatory for all volunteers, and would look amazing on your college applications! See you there!

Tween Time Fun @ North Channel!

Wondering what Tween Time is all about?  It's about all kinds of things!  Last week we made geometric sculptures out of straws and paper clips while enjoying delicious snacks.  Next month, who knows what we'll be doing.  It could be crafts or science experiments or cooking or a mystery activity!  You'll have to come to our next Tween Time program on Wednesday, April 25th at 4:30 pm to find out!

Valentine's Day & Black History Month at Stratford!

Join us on Monday, February 13th at 4pm for a fun tween program that combines Black History Month and Valentine's Day. Tweens can make Valentine's Day cards and sample some pink peanut butter pie in honor of George Washington Carver who pioneered many new uses for peanuts. Tweens can hang out, make cards, learn about Carver and eat pie.
