A Monster Calls at the Library

We all have monsters in our dreams, but would you want to see them come to life? Teens and tweens, join us for some fun with prints on canvas this Tuesday, January 10th at 4 pm at the Galena Park Branch Library. Based on the book "A Monster Calls" by Patrick Ness and the new movie coming out, we will create our monsters using acrylic paints and everyday items. This program is designed for tweens and teens (8-18 years). For more information please call 713-450-0982.

Teen Volunteering

Want to volunteer this summer? Are you in middle school or high school? Well, Teen Volunteer Training is a must for you! On June 11th at 5:00, you can find out what it takes to be a volunteer at the library. We will cover your responsibilities and what you can expect when you arrive. This training is mandatory for all volunteers, and would look amazing on your college applications! See you there!

Valentine's Day & Black History Month at Stratford!

Join us on Monday, February 13th at 4pm for a fun tween program that combines Black History Month and Valentine's Day. Tweens can make Valentine's Day cards and sample some pink peanut butter pie in honor of George Washington Carver who pioneered many new uses for peanuts. Tweens can hang out, make cards, learn about Carver and eat pie.

Hope to see you there!

It's Time to Plan for Success

To be successful in school it is important to be organized. But, it's not an easy task for young people who have to deal with schoolwork, friends, activities, chores, rooms, backpacks, lockers, desks, and what about fun? No wonder it becomes difficult for children to keep track of everything in their lives!
