Twilight Tales

Free Family Fun!

Early math skills in storytime? You bet! I also include projects that encourage children to be active participants in their learning. Cognitive play, encourages the development of language and subsequent early literacy skills.

It is my goal to create projects that you can easily duplicate at home; thus, extending your child's learning experiences. I hope to see you and your children soon. If you cannot make it on Twilight Tales on Monday nights, I hope that you will  stop by the library to say hi.

Family Fun @ the Library

The connection between early literacy and brain development has long been established.   According to the American Academy of Pediatrics, ... early brain and child development has revealed that modifiable factors in a child's early experience can greatly affect that child's learning trajectory.

Our weekly family time program has been developed to foster early learning and a love for reading. Each week, I share some of my favorite picture books, and have several family activities which will help support  school readiness.

Supercharged @ the Library: Explore, Create and Discover!

Every Monday night at 7pm, I present  a special program for families, which includes books, music activities and a craft.

The HCPL Summer Reading Program is for all ages, but for the purpose of this blog, I'll be discussing the details for our infant and children's program.

If you attended yesterday's program, don't forget to count the four books that we read towards your Summer Reading Program goals; now, you only need six more books to complete the first reading challenge! Summer Reading Fun for 2015 is for both readers and listeners, and will run from Monday, June 1st  to Saturday, August 8th.

As soon as you have completed a total of10 Books, 500 pages, or 500 minutes, come into the library to let us know; you have just completed the first level of our Summer Reading adventure!  While supplies last, you will receive a certificate, a book, and a special prize. Below are a few suggested superhero books, but remember, that you can read or listen to any reading materials you would like for the Summer Reading Challenge.

P.s. The next time that you are in the library make sure that you stop to say hi to Super Raffi! This superhero giraffe is part of our grand prize drawing (infants - 12 years old), and is exclusive to the Atascocita Branch Library!
