It has been such a controversial topic!  You have just enough time to get with it. Put them on hold or pick them up at your library. Read the books or watch the movies before the fourth installment of the Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn-Part 1 shows in theaters November 18.

Vampires

When I was a kid, I wasn’t allowed to watch scary movies. But elements of those films became well-known to me through friends and TV shows. So I knew what vampires were before I ever saw a horror movie on TV or at the theater. There were certain aspects that sounded funny. I recall laughing with friends about lines like “I want to drink your blood!” and the whole garlic keeping vampires away. When I did finally see the Bela Lugosi Dracula, I was surprised that it really was very creepy -- and a little scary. My mom was right in not letting her imaginative child see those movies at an early age.

Sure, it might seem glamorous, alluring and exciting in an Anne Rice novel, but the sorrows and disappointments of the vampire lifestyle deathstyle are vividly morbidly portrayed in these Graphic Novels.

Modern Day Monster

I remember when I was younger, my sister and I would look at a sitcom called “The Munster’s”. With all the talk of vampire movies, and the Young Adults reading Twilight and New Moon, I thought I would test the waters. I set up a display showing the books on Vampire Romance. To my surprise, the Adults just kept checking them out. This just shows me, age has no barriers.

Dead and GoneI'm a big fan of the Sookie Stackhouse paranormal mysteries by Charlaine Harris.  Her latest - Dead and Gone - was released in May and the new season of True Blood, airing Sunday nights on HBO, started on June 14.
