The Bunny & The Book Cart

If you follow the Aldine Branch on Twitter, then you know that we participated again in last month's Houston Art Car Parade. As always, it was a blast. For the fourth year in a row the branch was there with an art book cart. To celebrate the achievement our teen volunteers created a little video for your enjoyment.

If you are having trouble viewing this video then you can watch it here.

Aldine Teens Place in National Video Contest

Teens PosingThe teens at the Aldine Branch won the online voting portion of the Story Tubes contest for their book trailer for The Missing Girl by Norma Fox Mazer. Out of all the videos submitted, theirs was voted the best by the viewers. Way to go!

Aldine Branch Teens Compete in National Competition

Teens In Front of Blank WallAs you know, the teens of the Aldine Branch Library have been hard at work on many projects. Along with creating digital stories and decorating the Young Adult area of the library, they also became semi-finalists for a national contest sponsored by IdeaPaint! How great is that?!

Watch the video the teens made and cast your vote for the Harris County Public Library. You can vote once a day until December 4th, so don’t wait.

And spread the word! Let’s supports the teens and all of their hard work.

Otaku Files: Another Character Playing Characters

As a relatively "new" edition to the Baldwin Boettcher family, I take pride in my work with the teenage and pre-teen patrons. I found out as soon as I started, that Game Day was rather sparse and only involved teenagers. There was only one Nintendo Wii for the projector screen and a few games. Notable games mind you, but they didn't pull a crowd like I am used to with gaming. Something had to change.

Web 2.Yo! Cruising Along

Students at Netbooks

It’s been two weeks since Web 2.Yo! started back, and we’ve had a blast. There are so many cool things on-line to stumble across each class. So far teens have discovered some new sites involving music and art. This week we’ll focus on videos. If you missed the music and art classes don’t worry because we’ll bring them back soon. Stay tuned.

Snow Day

Do you guys remember the snow we had at the beginning of the month? The Aldine Branch staff sure does. In fact, we made a video highlighting how we spent our breaks on that day.

You can check it out on our YouTube Channel as well, along with other videos.
