Kingwood Branch Library hosts Second Annual ESL Luncheon

ESL 2nd LuncheonOn Tuesday, April 9, 2013, Kingwood Library hosted its 2nd Annual ESL Luncheon. Like many other HCPL branches, Kingwood Library offers English as a Second Language classes to the community. ESL tutors and students came together for an afternoon of food, fun, and festivities.  Students brought dishes from their native country and entertainment was provided by Teresa Moore of Fretted Friends. Thanks to all who make  the ESL program a possibility!

We Need Even More ESL Tutors

Ten weeks ago we wrote that our English as a Second Language programs were burgeoning and that we needed tutors. A number of people signed up and we’re so grateful. And now we need even more tutors because even more people are asking to learn English.

Aldine Branch Library seeks volunteer literacy tutors

The Aldine Branch Library is seeking volunteer tutors to help adults improve basic reading and writing skills.
Adult literacy tutors meet once or twice weekly with an adult student using materials provided by the library.  In addition to basic reading skills, tutors help students meet related daily life needs such as reading for work, to children, or for personal information and inspiration.
