Volunteer Deputy Voter Registrars Needed. Free Training at South Houston Branch, Monday, March 6.

Democracy is not a spectator sport. Here's a great way for you to get in the game and to help your neighbors do the same: BakerRipley and the Harris County Tax Office are hosting a Volunteer Deputy Voter Registrar Training session at South Houston Branch Library on Monday, March 6 at 5:45 p.m.

As a Volunteer Deputy Voter Registrar, you will assist eligible voters to register to vote. You must be 18 years of age, a U.S. citizen and a Texas resident. Complete requirements

The upcoming general election on Tuesday, November 4 will decide one of Texas’ seats in the U.S. Senate, all thirty-six of Texas’ representatives to the U.S. House, Texas Governor, Lieutenant Governor, and Attorney General, as well as many other important state, county and municipal offices.

Remember, it is now state law that in order to vote you must present one of the following approved forms of identification:

  • • Texas driver license issued by the Texas Department of Public Safetry (DPS).
  • • Texas personal identification card issued by DPS
  • • Texas concealed handgun license issued by DPS
  • • U.S. military identification card with your photograph
  • • U.S. passport
  • • Free Election Identification Certificate (EIC) issued by DPS (click here for more information).

Register to Vote

Monday, October 4th is the last day you can register to vote in the November 2nd midterm elections. You can pick up, fill in, and hand back a Voter Registration card at our Customer Service desk. And in case you were wondering, Early Voting begins Monday, October 18th and ends Friday October 29.
