Birdwatching @ Your Library

If you are a Northwest regular, or even if you’ve dropped by in the last couple of weeks, chances are you have seen our library mascot, the woodpecker.  The woodpecker has a tendency to hang out in the big tree just outside our reading area pecking at grub, and if you’re lucky, you’ll see him (or her) up close and personal, loudly but adorably pecking at our window, trying to drill his (or her) way in.

But did you know there are TWO library woodpeckers?  There is no pictorial evidence of this that I am aware of, but it’s true!  I have seen it with my own two eyes!

Woody, is that you?

The library woodpecker has returned. Spring is around the corner!! For several years (at least since the mid-90s), there has been a woodpecker that comes to visit the library. While he is probably not the same woodpecker, at least one bird comes each and every year. To watch video of the woodpecker, visit our video player on the Northwest Branch website.
