Hulu.com: A New Way to Watch TV

When I was a kid, I remember rushing home after school to watch my favorite cartoons like He-Man and Thundercats (I had a big brother so I rarely watched girly stuff). If I didn't make it home in time, I wouldn't catch the beginning of the show - or I might miss it altogether! Those were the days before we had cable TV and we only had 6 or so channels to choose from and we had to actually get up and walk to the TV to change the channel because we didn't have a fancy-schmancy "clicker." Eventually, we got cable TV and later a VCR. Finally, we could record things and watch them whenever we wanted - as long as we remembered to put in a blank tape and set the VCR to record. Fast-forward to adulthood and TiVo. Oh, how I have loved my TiVo!

Recipes for the ingredients you already have

A few weeks ago, I peeled and sliced a couple of peaches for the kids for lunch and after all the work preparing peaches the kids barely ate any. So I was left with a bowl of yummy fresh peaches and nothing to do with them. On a whim, I decided I wanted to make a peach crisp, but needed to find a recipe that would work with the ingredients I had in my kitchen. After searching for a while and looking through several recipes, I finally found one that would work. But if I'd known about SuperCook, I could have typed in "peaches" and all the other ingredients I had on hand and found a list of recipes I could make without a trip to the grocery store. Try out SuperCook sometime! You might find it's fun and easy to whip up something tasty on a whim!

Part 2 - Your Online Yard Sale: Craiglist.org

Craigslist logoLast week, I introduced you to the wonders of buying items off of Craigslist. This week, I'll go over some tips for selling items on Craigslist.org. Craigslist is a great online resource to unload items you no longer use and score some cold hard cash in return.

Free Tutorials from GCFLearnFree

books imageGCFLearnFree.org offers free tutorials covering everying from life skills to resume writing.  One of the best feature, the Computer Training section, provides self-paced tutuorials covering the latest Microsoft Office products and web/internet features.  The Online Classes offer the opportunity to earn Continuing Education certificates.  The website if free, but does require a very brief account registration.

Your online yard sale: Craigslist.org

In tough economic times, people tend to buy second-hand in order to save money. While you could spend your Saturday morning rushing from yard sale to yard sale, trying to pick up the best items before they’re sold to someone else, a better option might be Craigslist. With Craigslist, you can search local listings of items for sale, contact the sellers via email or phone to haggle over price and pickup time and location, and buy your item without foraging through bins of items at yard sales.
