This book is a great introduction to animals and farm life from morning until night. It has great illustrations and rhyming text.

Cows In The Kitchen by:June Crebbin

The farm animals take over the farmhouse, while the farmer naps. This book is a great participatory book with children. I usually show the hilarious pictures, and sing the text to the tune of "Skip To My Lou."

Carrot In My Pocket by:Kitson Flynn

This book introduces children to a boy's life on the farm, while simultaneously getting them involving in solving the mystery of what happened to the carrot that was in his pocket. It has good illustrations and a rhyming text.

The Cow Buzzed by:Andrea Zimmerman and David Clemesha

When a bee with a cold visits the farm and sneezes, the animals end up with mixed up voices. children enjoy the the animal sounds and the funny ending.

Make a Paper Lunch Bag Cow Puppet. See www.daniellesplace.com/html/animal_crafts.html. I adapted this craft to make it simpler and eliminated the body and arms. The children enjoy coloring the cow's head and pasting it to the lunch bag. Preschoolers have a great imagination when coloring, so we get lots of different cow hand puppets.
