Each child is given a 12 X 18 inch piece of brown construction paper. I hold a large quantity of multicolored die cut oak leaves above my head, tell the children that I am a tree in the fall, and then throw the leaves up in the air. Then I tell the children to collect six leaves for their picture. They glue them onto the brown construction paper, and I also give them crayons to color them if they wish. I then give them paper plates with Elmer's glue and small paint brushes so they can brush glue onto their leaves. After that, we put gold glitter on the picture to finish it off. |

When using glitter, I use a deep plastic container. I put a paper plate in the bottom and then pour the glitter over that, then I trade out for another paper plate and use that to pour the excess glitter on the item. I just keep rotating plates. It makes it a speedier process and makes a lot less mess. |
