Kente Cloth/patterns: Give each child a placemat size piece of cheap cotton cloth. Using tempera paint and various stamps and sponges, have the children decorate their material with patterns like those found in traditional kente cloth. Note: This works well with small groups (less than 10); however, the painting can easily get out of hand with larger crowds. For larger groups, have the children glue small pieces of brightly colored construction paper onto a large sheet of paper to create the same kente cloth designs. |
