I'm a Little Teapot
I'm a little teapot
Short and stout
Here is my handle
Here is my spout
When I get all steamed up
Hear me shout
Tip me over and pour me out.
This is the Way
This is the way we wash our clothes
Wash our clothes, Wash our clothes
(Move hands up and down as if on a wash board)
This is the way we wash our clothes
All on a Monday morning.

This is the way we iron our clothes
(Move hand like an iron)
Iron our clothes, Iron our clothes
This is the way we iron our clothes
All on a Tuesday morning

This is the way we mend our clothes
(Move hand in a sewing motion)
Mend our clothes, Mend our clothes
This is the way we mend our clothes
All on a Wednesday morning

This is the way we sweep our floors
(Move both hands in a broom sweeping motion)
Sweep our floors, Sweep our floors
This is the way we sweep our floors
All on a Thursday morning

This is the way we scrub our house
(Move hands in a scrubbing motion)
Scrub our house, Scrub our house

My Little House
(adapted Traditional) from
1001 Rhymes & Fingerplays (Totline Staff)

I?m going to build a little house
With windows wide and bright
(stretch arms out to sides)
With chimney tall and curling smoke
Rising out of sight
(spiral hands upward)
In winter when the snowflakes fall
Or when I hear a storm
(cup hand behind ear
I?ll go and sit inside my house
Where I?ll be snug and warm.
(hug self)
Building a House
by Diane Thom
1001 Rhymes & Fingerplays (Totline Staff)

Building a house is lots of work
(wipe brow)
First, you dig up lots of dirt
(pretend to dig)
Then you pour a concrete floor,
(touch floor)
And pound up boards with nails galore.
(pretend to hammer)
Doors and windows go in fast
(draw squares in air with finger)
Now your house is done at last.
(clasp hands together above head)

Craft
Full sheet of construction paper - with slits cut in the middle - take strips of contrasting construction paper and weave into the slits to make a placemat
Other
If you have access to die cut silverware and plates offer them to the children to place on their placemats.
