Books
Good Night, Gorilla by:Peggy Rathmann
A mischievous little gorilla lifts the zookeeper’s keys. The unobservant zookeeper does not realized the gorilla is following him and freeing the rest of the animals and so he is followed home by all the animals he thinks he has left behind in the zoo. A great bedtime story too!
The Baby BeeBee Bird by:Diane Redfield Massey
The zoo animals find a way to keep the baby beebee bird awake during the day so that they can get some sleep at night. A fun book with wonderful illustrations that emphasize how raucous the baby beebee bird can be when others sleep.
Animal Strike at the Zoo, It’s True by:Karma Wilson
The zoo animals go on strike until the tears of a disappointed little girl make them realize that they actually like what they do. A funny rhyming tale.
Never, Ever Shout in a Zoo by:Karma Wilson
You are warned from the beginning to “never, ever shout in a zoo because if you do anything might happen.” This rhyming book shows the hilarious chaos that “might” result as the result of one small shout.
Down by the Station by:Will Hillenbrand
In this version of a familiar song, baby animals ride to the children's zoo on the zoo train. Printed music on last page.
1 Zany Zoo by:Lori Degman

Underneath The Monkey Tree
Sung to: "The Muffin Man"

Come and play a while with me, Underneath the monkey tree.
Monkey See and Monkey Do,
Just like monkeys in the zoo.

Swing your tail, one, two, three, Underneath the monkey tree.
Monkey See and Monkey Do,
Just like monkeys in the zoo.

Jump around and smile like me, Underneath the monkey tree.
Monkey See and Monkey Do,
Just like monkeys in the zoo.

We are going to zoo,
To the zoo, to the zoo.

Tigers too, tigers too.
We'll see lions, tigers too,
All at the zoo.

We will find some chimpanzees,
Chimpanzees, chimpanzees.
we will find some chimpanzees,
Swinging from the trees.

We will look for kangaroos,
Kangaroos, kangaroos.
We will look for kangaroos,
Hopping at the zoo.
Take me out to the Zoo
Sung to: "Take me out the ballgame"

Take me out for some good fun,
Take me out to the zoo.
Let me visit the tall giraffe,
I want to hear the hyenas laugh.
Now I love to visit the zoo,
I could stay there all day,
And watch birds, seals, rhinos, and hippos
As they play.

If I Were
Sung to: " The Mulberry Bush"

Oh, if I were a tiny snake,
A tiny snake, a tiny snake.
Oh, if I were a tiny snake,
I'd slither around the zoo.

Oh, if I were an elephant,
an elephant, an elephant.
Oh, if I were an elephant,
I'd march around the zoo.

Oh, if I were a kangaroo,
A kangaroo, a kangaroo.
Oh, if I were a kangaroo,
I'd hop around the zoo.

I'm a Little Monkey
Sung to: "I'm a little teapot"

I'm a little monkey in the tree
Swinging by my tail so merrily
I can leap and fly from tree to tree.
I have lots of fun you see.
I'm a little monkey, watch me play
Munching on bananas every day
Lots of monkey friends to play with me.
We have fun up the tree.

Craft
Bendable Monkey Craft
http://www.busybeekidscrafts.com/Bendable-Monkey.html
This is a fun, easy craft however it will be much sturdier if printed on card stock. The finished monkey will be handled a lot since the bendable arms and legs can hang from precarious positions or hug it's favorite human.
