AARP Tax Assistance at the Northwest Branch Library

Every year, the Harris County Public Library partners with AARP  to offer free in-person tax assistance through trained volunteers. AARP Volunteers will be in the Northwest Branch Library Community room on:

  • Fridays: 1:00pm-5:00pm
  • Saturdays: 10:00am-2:00pm
  • Duration: February, March, and part of April

 Assistance is provided on a first come, first serve basis and customers are asked to bring all applicable paperwork.  Customers who are interested in receiving assistance should bring:

  • Proof of identification (Photo ID)
  • Social Security cards for you, your spouse, and dependents
  • Birth dates for you, your spouse, and dependents
  • Wage and earnings statements (W-2s, 1099s)
  • Interest and dividend statements
  • Copy of last year's tax returns
  • Proof of bank account routing and account numbers for direct deposit such as a blank check
  • Both spouses must be present to sign joint return
  • Total paid to daycare provider and provider's tax ID number
  • Affordable Health Care statements (1095-A, B, or C)
