I wanted to read The Accident after reading Pavone’s best seller, The Expats. This story isn’t as compelling as The Expats but it was entertaining. Isabel Reed, a New York literary agent, receives a manuscript from an anonymous author. It is sure to be a best seller, but since it reveals secrets kept by powerful people, she is afraid that it will be dangerous to publish the book. Sure enough, her assistant is murdered and soon Isabel and her associate Jeff are running for their lives. The story offers an inside look at the publishing industry which is part of the charm of the novel.
