All Roads Lead...
…to Gulf Coast Reads. Or, to be more precise, All This Blog will lead to Gulf Coast Reads in an amazing way.
Today’s topic is the Wings Over Houston Airshow, which will be held October 26-27, 2013 at Ellington Field. This is a great show that is presented annually. More information can be found at www.wingsoverhouston.com.
How is this related to Gulf Coast Reads?
Hig, the main character in The Dog Stars, flies a cream and blue colored 1956 Cessna 182 over the dystopian world environment in which he now finds himself. The Dog Stars is the title selected for this year’s Gulf Coast Reads. So that’s just 2 degrees of separation between Wings Over Houston Airshow and Gulf Coast Reads.
We will have two Gulf Coast Reads programs at La Porte: a book discussion of The Dog Stars 10:30-11:30 am on Wednesday, October 9, and a movie from the dystopian genre [title to be announced] on Wednesday, October 16, at 4 pm. Grab a copy of the book, start reading, and join with other residents of the Gulf Coast for the book discussion and/or movie at La Porte Community Library. There are also Gulf Coast Reads programs scheduled at the 25 other branches of Harris County Public Library.
