Altered Books Contest & Workshops

Altered Book Kingwood LibraryThis is friendly reminder that Kingwood Branch Library's Altered Books Contest is still going! This year we've extended the contest to June 30th and are offering workshops. So if you haven't started on your entry, there's still time!

Participating is simple. Books and contest forms are available for pickup in the 2nd Floor Teen Room. You can enter in one of three categories to be eligible for prizes: Family (children ages 11 and under and/or siblings, with parents), Teens (ages 12 to 18 without assistance from parents), or Adults (ages 19+).

In conjunction with our contest, we are offering the following workshops: Altered Books Kingwood Library

  • Wednesday, April 23, 4:00 PM - 6:00 PM: DIY Journal. Learn to turn an old book into a book for journaling and scrapbooking. Bring your own book or you one supplied by FOLK.
  • Wednesday, May 7, 4:00 PM - 6:00 PM: Open Lab. Bring your own book and materials (and a friend!) to work on your piece or use limited supplies provided by FOLK.
  • Friday, May 16, 3:00 PM - 5:00 PM: Open Lab. Bring your own book and materials (and a friend!) to work on your piece or use limited supplies provided by FOLK.

Registration for workshops is recommended as space is limited. Workshops are open to all ages; children ages 11 and under must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.
