Anniversary of the Titanic Disaster
The sinking of the Titanic at 2:20 a.m. on April 15, 1912, with the loss of 1500 lives is an event that captures, and even haunts, our imaginations to this very day. There are many reasons why. Some say it marked the end of a way of life. But it was much more than that.
The Evelyn Meador Men's Book Club will be commemorating the 100th anniversary of the disaster with a discussion of A Night To Remember by Walter Lord. Written is 1955, Lord's book is still considered the classic account of the disaster – perhaps, in part because he was able to interview over 60 survivors and record their eyewitness accounts. A Night To Remember is also a quick read at around 160 pages. So, you still have time to grab a copy, read it and join us on Wednesday, April 18th at 1:00 p.m. in the Conference Room as we explore the implications of this tremendous event.
