APE threw a Chirstmas party for kids, and it went great!
The Aldine Project Experience (our artistic teen volunteers) planned out a full children's program for this party. They researched children's crafts online. Then our volunteers tried the crafts out to decide which were the best based on kid's abilities, and how fun they were. They planned out a holiday snack menu (hot chocolate, chocolate chip cookies, candy canes, and even a healthy option of apple slices with peanut butter), and ordered the activities (crafts, then snacks, then a holiday movie).
On the day of, they got to the library early to set up the meeting room, and make the snacks (yes, we did bake the cookies ourselves!), and plan out the party. With a jobs assigned and contingency plans in place, we were ready to open our doors. It was slow going at first, but a number of children came and enjoyed APE's well planned event.
