April 19 is National High Five Day

National High Five Day takes place every third Thursday in April. The holiday was created in 2002 by college students at the University of Virginia. The students celebrated National High Five Day with lemonade and plenty of High Fives.

To learn more about the origins and how to participate, visit the National High Five Day website at www.nationalhighfiveproject.org.

Where did High Fives come from? No one knows for sure, but sometime during the 1970's, sports teams started using the congratulatory gesture and it's been here ever since.

So be sure to give everyone a High Five on Thursday!

I couldn't find any books on High Fives, but we do have High Five by Janet Evanovich on the shelf.
