Lincoln Peirce, the author of Big Nate, was on the Today show a couple weeks ago., and I learned something – his (last) name is pronounced “purse”.
Here is a website that has lots (just about everybody) of authors saying their names so that everybody can learn how to pronounce them correctly.
Other authors whose names you are probably mispronouncing:
Wendelin VanDraanen (author of Shredderman, Sammy Keyes mysteries, and Flipped)
RIck Riordan (author of Percy Jackson series, Kane Chronicles, and some of the 39 clues)
Sarah Mlynowski (author of Whatever After series)
and Cornelia Funke (author of Inkheart, The Thief Lord, and a bunch of other books)
