Asian Pacific Heritage Month: Japanese Settlers of Webster
Ever wondered how Kobayashi Road got its name? May is Asian Pacific Heritage Month and Freeman Library is celebrating in several ways, one of which is highlighting the influence a group of Japanese settlers had on our area. Come up to the second floor of the library to see our display and learn about the Saibaras, Kobayashis and others who came over from Japan to farm rice and other crops in the Webster area. If you want to learn more about the subject, check out Thomas K. Walls' Japanese Texans or The Little White Church on Nasa Road 1, a history of Webster Presbyterian Church and the Webster area.
