August Book Clubs

The Northwest Branch Library has several active book clubs that meet regularly each month. If you would like to participate, consider joining one (or all) of the clubs. Fellowship and fun for all. If you have any questions related to the book clubs, please contact the Northwest Branch Library at 832-927-5460 or via email at nw@hcpl.net and a staff member will assist you. This months meeting times and selections are:

Inspirational Book Club, August 17th at 2:00pm

The Inspirational Book Club will be discussing "A Blessing & A Curse" by Reshonda Tate Billingsley. A heated American Baptist Coalition election. A murky murder cover-up. An outrageous reality TV show. What in heaven's name kind of drama will holy rivals Rachel Jackson Adams and Jasmine Cox Larson Bush--prominent first ladies of the Baptist church--get themselves into next?

All Fiction Book Club, August 21st at 2:00pm

The All Fiction Book Club will discuss "On Second Thought" by Kristan Higgins. Ainsley O'Leary is so ready to get married—she's even found the engagement ring her boyfriend has stashed away. What she doesn't anticipate is being blindsided by a breakup he chronicles in a blog…which (of course) goes viral. Devastated and humiliated, Ainsley turns to her older half sister, Kate, who's struggling with a sudden loss of her own.

New Perspective Book Club, August 25th at 4:00pm

The New Perspective Book Club will discuss the book, "Bookends" by Jane Green.  Catherine Warner and Simon Nelson are best friends: total opposites, always together, and both unlucky in love. Cath is scatterbrained, messy, and–since she had her heart broken a few years back–emotionally closed off. Si is impossibly tidy, bitchy, and desperate for a man of his own. They live in London’s West Hampstead along with their lifelong friends, Josh and Lucy, who are happily married with a devil-spawn child and a terrifying Swedish nanny, Ingrid. All’s well (sort of) until the sudden arrival of a college friend–the stunningly beautiful Portia, who’s known for breaking hearts.
