Black History Month

BCALA Literary Award for Fiction
Given annually by the Black Caucus of the American Library Association for oustanding works by African Amerian authors.

Coretta Scott King Award
Awarded annually to authors and illustrators of African descent whose work promotes the "American Dream."
Coretta Scott King Award - Virginia Hamilton Award for Lifetime Achievement
Recognizes outstanding African-American authors, illustrators or author/illustrators and practitioners for lasting and significant contributions to youth or young adult literature. Pays tribute to beloved author Virginia Hamilton.
John Steptoe Award for New Talent
Awarded annually to a black author and a black illustrator beginning his/her career.
NAACP Image Award for Outstanding Literary Work - Fiction
The NAACP Image Awards honor outstanding works in literature.
NAACP Image Award for Outstanding Literary Work for Children
The NAACP Image Awards honor outstanding works in the children's literature field.
NAACP Image Award for Outstanding Motion Picture
The NAACP Image Awards honor outstanding works in the literature and entertainment fields.
