Book Buddies

Book Buddies

Are you in 7th – 12th grades? Do you want to be a mentor? Do you need service hours? Then volunteer to be a Big Buddy!

Or, do you have a child in Kindergarten – 3rd grades? Do you want to help them develop a love of reading? Then apply for your child to be a Little Buddy!

Harris County Public Library's Book Buddies program pairs trained teen volunteers (Big Buddies) with children in Kindergarten through 3rd grades (Little Buddies). For 10 weeks, the Buddies meet once a week for 45 minutes of shared reading.

This next session will run from February to May 2018 at Spring Branch Memorial Library (930 Corbindale Rd, Houston, TX 77024). You will meet once a week on Monday from 4:30 PM to 5:15 PM to read with your Buddy.

If interested, stop by Spring Branch-Memorial Library to pick up an application to be a Big Buddy or a Little Buddy!

For more information, contact Elizabeth at 713-464-1633.

Would you consider putting

Would you consider putting together a home school book buddy program... one that meets during the day? Readers and buddies could both be students who are home schooled.

Thank you for your interest

Thank you for your interest in the Book Buddies program! Many of the Little Buddies and Big Buddies who participate in the program are home schooled. Currently all the programs occur in the afternoon. However, please let your local branch coordinator know of your preference for the daytime; they are constantly gathering feedback and might be able to adjust the time of future cycles if there is enough interest.
