Book Hunters in Brief #131: BFG Readalikes

I used to whine to my daughter about Hollywood's insistence on ruining so many of my fond childhood memories by adapting favorite books into movies until, one day in the car after watching a truly execrable adaptation of truly great children's book, she fixed me with the kind of withering look that pre-adolescent girls tend to reserve only for their fathers, and said something to the effect of, "The book is the book. The movie is the movie." She was right, of course. They are two different mediums with there own conventions and limitations. A bad adaptation does nothing to diminish the theory, at least.

So whether or not you are looking forward to Disney's adaptation of Roald Dahl's classic BFG, the Book Hunters offer some BFG readalikes to help you make new memories with your own young ones.
