Catalog Not Showing Checkouts

AlertUpdate: May 18: Thank you for your patience.  The issue with the catalog is resolved and customers should now be able to see their checked out items.

The Catalog is having problem showing checkouts in my account after the recent upgrade on web services. Customers should call one of our branches for assistance with renewals. Our vendor is working on resolving this now. We apologize for this inconvenience and we hope to have this resolved soon.

I can now see my checkouts,

I can now see my checkouts, but noticed that the catalog is showing item available when they are still in processing. My online record still shows the items pending, but if I click for more details, the listing shows the items as available unles I click to see the copies that are still in processing. People may get confused seeing the 38 available and not look at the copy list before heading to the Library expecting a copy to be on the shelves.

If you can provide an example, we would be happy to look into this further.

Search the catalog for Beyond

Search the catalog for Beyond the Ice Limit by Preston. The book has 26 available with 41 holds at this time. Here is the catalog link http://hcpl2.ent.sirsi.net/client/en_US/webcat/search/results?qu=beyond+... If I look at the books details, all items are in processing.

I assume you mean because you

I assume you mean because you can now see your place in the holds queue, why does it still show in processing?  Essentially because the catalog is working correctly.  Once the item arrives in our administrative offices for processing, which is the status, you will start to see your place in the queue.   Prior to that, you will see Pending as your queue status while the book is on order.  I hope that answers your question.  If it does not, please let us know.

If you click on the link

If you click on the link provided, why does the book show 27 AVAILABLE when there are 49 HOLDS? You don't have that many copies of the book. If they are still In Processing, they should not show as AVAILABLE. If people think they are AVAILABLE, not realizing they are still In Processing, they will be very disappointed when they look for the item on the shelves.

Harris County Library System

Harris County Library System should ask for a major refund from the vendor that took over the software services last fall. The first major problem was the loss of the immediate renewal capability for library patrons from their personal computers. Having to trouble the library staff for every book where one wants an extended renewal was a nuisance for all involved. And now the system cannot even show a library patron the books checked out to their account so they can monitor their checkouts!!! The software vendor should be ashamed! They are not testing their software adequately before releasing it to their customers.

Susan, We have rolled back to

Susan,

We have rolled back to the previous software version and My Account is now fixed.  We do need to upgrade the software, but will be testing it twice before the next release.  Lesson learned!  On the renewal issue the functionality is the code in Alpha testing now.  Our library will be installing and testing this out during the Beta test phase, which should be happening the last week of June.  So we do have an end in sight on that problem.
