This week we celebrated the founding of America.  We had parades and ate hot dogs (one person won a contest eating 69 hot dogs in 10 minutes!).  We listened to patriotic songs and watched fireworks.  We spent time with family and friends and thought about how fortunate we are to live in America.

Of course, with summer being the biggest movie season, Hollywood has given us films that feature the Fourth of July celebration.  I remember the thrill of seeing Jaws and Independence Day for the first time.  But there is a variety of movies featuring a celebration of the Fourth -- and many movies dramatizing how we became the United States of America.  No matter the time of year, these films are always worth watching.
