Children's End of Summer Reading Program

Drumming up fun this summer at the Tomball LibraryOur youngest customers and their families are saying goodbye to another summer, but many learned the joy of reading all year round by participating in the Texas State Summer Reading Program--Libraries: Deep in the Heart of Texas.  An End of Summer Party took place on Thursday August 6th in the Activity Room of the Children’s Department with an Aloha-theme celebration.  More than 800 children signed up for the Texas State Summer Reading Program at the Tomball Library this summer. This statewide program provides opportunities for children to continue reading throughout the summer to bridge any reading gaps between the school years, but also to encourage lifelong reading. Children who read at least 10 books, 500 page or 500 minutes received a beautiful certificate signed by the Texas governor and Tomball library staff.  If you missed the party, kids, we invite you to share some of the books you read this summer here!
