December Events for Children

Here are some fun and festive events for children to attend this month:

Monday Maker Programs - These afterschool programs are on Mondays at 4:30 pm for children 5-12 years old.  Here are the themes - 12/4 - Catapults; 12/11 - Magnetic Mosaics; and 12/18 - Lego Free Play.  Free tickets are given out 30 minutes before the program.

Satrurday, December 9 - Make A Lego Bolo Tie at 2 pm.   Children 5-12 years can make a Lego Bolo Tie to show off at the Houston Rodeo in a couple of months  Leslie Eaton of the Houston Rodeo Speakers Committee will talk about western lore and then children will make the tie.  Tickets are required.  They'll be given out at 1:30 pm.

Thursday, December 14 at 5:30-7:00 pm - Santa Claus makes his annual stop at Freeman to talk to children.   Numbered tickets will be given out from the Kids Information Desk starting at  5 pm.  Santa will see the children in number order.   He'll have to leave at 7 pm.  Parents are welcome to snap a shot of their child with Santa.

Friday, December 15 - Baby Playtime at 10:00 am - Babies from infants through 18 months old have a playdate in the Children's Activity Space.  No tickets are needed.   At 4:00 pm - tweens 8-12 yeasrs old can make a fun safety pin bracelet.  Free tickets will be given out at 3:30 pm.

Saturday, December 16 - Family Storytime at 11:00 am.  Join us for a mouse-themed storytime.  No tickets are needed.

Thursday, December 21 at 4:30 pm -  December Book Club features Chris Van Allsburg's Polar Express.  We'll talk about the book, have a tasty treat, and watch the movie.   This program is for children of all ages.  Tickets required.  The tickets will be given out at 4:00 pm.

Thursday, December 28 at 2:30 pm - New Year's Carafts - Join us for festive New Year's crafts for children 3-12 years old.  Tickets are required.  They'll be given out at 4:00 pm.   Also, Pajama Storytime will be held at 6:00 pm.  This storytime featues stories, songs and fingerplays for all ages.  Tickets will be given out at 5:30 pm.

Friday, December 29 at 10:15 am - Toddlers in Motion -  This high-energy progam is designed for children 18 months to 3 years old.   Children get to sing, dance and move around, so they should wear loose-fitting clothing and comfortalbe shoes.  Tickets will be given out at 10:00 am when we open.
