Family Storytime and Craft: Monday, August 30th

Following our storytime program, children will have an opportunity to create a collage that will include the child's name or a special word. Keeping with our "green" theme we will be using recycled cardboard and baby food lids as part of our collage.
Storytime starts at 7:00 pm, and everyone is welcome.

Below are the words for the Cool Bear Hunt Song by Dr. JeanThis song is truely a favorite of the children who attend storytime.  I have also included a link, so you may oder the cd if you would like. This is a great song to help children learn directionality concepts (under, over around, etc...) and in turn, promotes visual perceptual skills needed to learn how to read and write.

Order the CD:  Dr. Jean sings silly songs
We also sing the "Hokey Pokey" song for the same reason.

Chorus: We're going on a bear hunt.
We're going to catch a big one,
            With big green eyes,
            And a fuzzy little tail.

Look over there.
It's a candy factory.
Can't go over it.
Can't go under it.
Can't go around it.
Guess we'll go through it.
Yum, yum, yum, yummmm. (Chorus)
Look over there.
It's a peanut butter river. . .

Look over there.
It's a Jell-o swamp. . .

Look over there.
It's a cave. . .
It's cold in here.
I see two big green eyes,
And a fuzzy little tail.
It's a bear!
Go through the Jell-o swamp.
Swim across the peanut butter river.
Go through the candy factory.
Run home.
Open the door. Shut the door.
We went on a bear hunt,
And we weren't afraid!

This is a very cute craft!

This is a very cute craft! I am sharing this idea with my mom who watches toddlers at her church and is always looking for low-cost crafts to do with them. Thanks for the idea!

Thank you for your comment.

Thank you for your comment. It's always nice hearing that others have found the information we provide  useful.  The children attending storytime really enjoyed this craft.
