Femme Fatales...Hardboiled Detectives... Red Hot Houston Noir Coming to your Library

Prepare to be chilled by the darkest stories Houston authors have to offer as LSC - CyFair Branch Library presents Houston Noir, an interactive author event on Wednesday, June 12 at 7:00 PM.

Akashic Books continues its award-winning series of original noir anthologies, each set in a single city, with the long-awaited Houston Noir, released in May 2019.

This collection boasts 3 HOUSTON POET LAUREATES among its creators, two of whom will present this interactive reading event at the library.

Deborah D.E.E.P. Mouton is an internationally renowned performance and slam poet, a three-time Slam Champ formerly ranked the #2 Best Female Poet in the World. She has coached adult and youth slam groups to rank in national finals. She was Houston’s poet laureate for 2017 to 2019. Her work is compiled on two albums and has been featured on BBC, NPR, Upworthy, Blavity, Button Poetry, Write About Now, and the opening video of the Houston Rockets 2017 season.

In addition to editing Houston Noir, Gwendolyn Zepeda has published three novels, one short story collection, two poetry collections, and five children’s books. She was Houston’s first poet laureate from 2013 to 2015.

Join these femme fatales as they read excerpts from the book, spill the blood dirt on the book’s creation, and share tips for aspiring writers.

This event is free to the public! Books will be available for purchase and signing.
