Filmmaking 101 with Director Wayne Slaten
Local filmmaker Wayne Slaten, in partnership with the Gulf Coast Film & Video Festival, will offer a free presentation on the basics of filmmaking at Freeman Library on Monday, August 20th at 7:00 p.m. in the Community Room.
The Gulf Coast Film & Video Festival, an annual event since 1998, awards prizes for both film and screenplay entries, and according to their web site, their goals include “[encouraging] the work of the independent Filmmaker” and “[promoting] the concept of film as an art, offering awards as a means of educational outreach and expanded awareness of independent film”. The festival runs from Thursday, September 13th through Sunday, September 16th this year.
Slaten’s short, Cold War, was screened at the 2012 Cannes Film Festival. He is currently in preproduction on his latest work, Patriot Act, a science fiction thriller set in Houston. Don’t miss this opportunity to learn the basics of filmmaking.
