Garden Beauty at the Library!

Kingwood Branch Library has been blessed with angels – the Kingwood Garden Club plants and maintains the gardens in front of the library and has for years now. Beautiful gardens beckon all those who enter the library and entice customers to check out garden books so they may duplicate the lovely scenery at their homes. We have many garden books that are perfect for Kingwood gardeners including Howard Garrett’s Plants for Houston and the Gulf Coast Area, Sally Wasowski’s Native Texas Gardens, and Roger Holmes’ Home Landscaping. Texas to mention a few.
The Kingwood Garden Club has given many hours to keeping the flower beds in front of the library beautiful, interesting and educational for the community. They also offer scholarships to Humble ISD or New Caney graduates for college and/or graduate students in the fields of botany, conservation, forestry horticulture, landscaping, environmental studies and other gardening-related fields. The deadline to apply is April 1, 2010; applications are available at or call 281-360-4631. The library and community are grateful for the beautiful gardens through the years!
