I haven’t read any of Sara Paretsky’s mysteries in a while. I like them, it’s just that there’s so much to read! Sometimes I lose track of a series and I go back when I’m reminded of it. Seeing that her latest Breakdown just came out reminded me of Paretsky’s female Chicago PI, VI Warshawski. Paretsky was one of the first writers to create a female private eye and her work has influenced many writers since. While you are waiting to get a copy of Breakdown, enjoy the first in this series, Indemnity Only. In this debut novel, Warshawski meets a client who says he’s banker John Thayer. But he’s not. He says his son’s girlfriend, Anita, is missing. But that’s not her name either. Soon Warshawski finds the real John Thayer’s son. But he’s dead. Who is this mysterious client?
