January Events in the Children's Department

Looking for something fun for your children to do in January?  We kick off the New Year with lots of returning programs and some new ones.   We start off this Thursday, January 5 with Pajama Storytime at 6:00 pm.  We give out tickets at 5:30 pm and children are welcome to wear pajamas or bring a cozy blanket.  On Saturday, January 7, we have Family Storytime at 11:00 am.  No tickets are needed for this program.  We'll have this program again on Saturday, January 21.   On Monday, January 9, we have the bilingual Chinese/English storytime at 10:15 am.  We'll give out tickets when we open at 10:00 am.  This fun storytime features books and activities in English and Chinese.  It is recommended for children 3-5 years old.

For school age children, we'll kick off another semester of Maker Monday on Monday, January 9 at 4:30 pm.  This program is recommended for children 5-12 years old.  It  is a weekly program that features an activity or craft.  Tickets are given out at 4 pm.   This week's program features fun with catapults.

Babies from infants through 18 months old will enjoy hanging out at Baby Playtime on Friday, January 13 at 10:00 am. This monthly program features board books, toys, music, bubbles, and a fun art project.  Best of all - no tickets are needed for this program.

Children 3-12 years old can celebrate winter fun on Thursday, January 19 with Winter Crafts at 4:30 pm.  We'll give out tickets starting at 4:00 pm.  We'll have several fun crafts featuring snow themes.

There are two fun programs for Chinese New Year: On Saturday, January 21 at 2:00 pm, there will be a Lion Dance in the parking lot of the Diana Lane side of the library.     This program lasts about 25 minutes and no tickets are needed. Then on Thursday, January 26 at 4:30 pm,  we will have a Chinese New Year Celebration with food, crafts, and music.  Tickets are required.  They will be given out at 4:00 pm.

Thank you to the Friends of Freeman Library for supporting these programs and many others throughout the year.
