January Programs for Children
Looking for something for the children to do in January? Freeman will have several programs to keep children occupied this month. We will resume our normal storytime schedule starting Monday, January 7, 2013. Here is our storytime schedule:
Toddler Time - a storytime for children 18 months to 3 years old. It is held Mondays at 11:15 am and Tuesdays at 10:15 and 11:15 am. Preschool Storytime - stories for children 3 to 5 years old. It is held on Tuesdays and Wednesdays at 1:30 pm. Book Babies - a program of rhymes, songs, playtime, and bubbles for children from infants to 18 months old. It is held on Wednesdays at 10:15 & 11:15 am. All these storytimes require tickets. They are free and available from the Kids Information Desk starting thirty minutes before the program. For the 10:15 am programs, tickets are available when the library opens at 10:00 am.
We also will have several programs for school-age children. On Monday, January 7 - Bricks4Kidz will present a program on building a replica of the White House using Lego bricks. This program will be held 4:30-5:30 pm for children 5-11 years old. Tickets are required. They are free and available starting thirty minutes before the program.
Freeman Library will participate in the Worldwide Craftsy Party on Monday, January 14. This program is for crafters from children to adult age. It will be held in the Community Room throughout the day 10:00 am through 6 pm. Children and adults are welcome to bring a craft project to work on or do a project with library-provided materials. No tickets are required for this program.
Baby Playtime - Join us Friday, January 25 from 10:00-11:00 am for a special baby program. We'll have educational toys, music, bubbles and lots of fun for babies from infants through 18 months old. No tickets are needed for this program.
Mardi Gras Shoebox Float Fun - We're going to have a display of box floats in the Children's Department from January 29 through Mardi Gras - February 12. We'll be making Mardi Gras floats on Monday, January 28 at 4:30 pm. Boxes and lots of fun decorating supplies will be provided. Children are encouraged to make a float in the program and leave it for display. They may pick up the float after February 12 to keep. Tickets are required. They are free and available at the Kids Information Desk starting 30 minutes before the program.
Also, this month we will be doing a registration for drawings for two programs coming up in February: The USA LEGO Robotics Camp returns on the four Saturdays from February 9 through March 2. This camp is for children 7-11 years old. Spaces are limited, so we will have a registration for a drawing for spots. The registration for the drawing will be Saturday, January 19 through Saturday, January 26 at the Kids Information Desk. Children whose names are drawn will be notified by email or phone by Friday, February 1.
The Children's Department will have an Afterschool Ancient Art program on Mondays February 4, 11, 18 & 25 from 4:30-5:30 pm. This program is for children 10 years and Up. Spaces are limited for this program, so we will have a registration for a drawing for spots. The registration for the drawing will be Tuesday, January 22 through Tuesday, January 29 at the Kids Information Desk. Children whose names are drawn will be notified by phone or email by Friday, February 1.
