January Programs in the Children's Department

  Looking for some fun and free programs to kick off your 2018 library visits?  Join us in the Children's Department for these programs:

Family Storytime on Saturdays January 6 and 20 at 11:00 am.  These storytimes feature stories, songs, and fingerplays.  They do not require tickets, so families can just drop into the program in the Children's Department.   We'll also have Pajama Storytime on Thursdays January 11 and 25 at 6:00 pm.  These storytimes feature books, songs, fingerplays, and a craft.   Children are welcome to dress in their pajamas and bring a blanket or stuffed animal.  Tickets are required.  They are given out at 5:30 pm.   The Family Storytime and Pajama Storytimes are recommended for children from preschool age and under.

We'll begin a new session of Maker Monday programs for school-age children 5-12 years old on Mondays at 4:30 pm.  We'll start with Straws and Connectors on Monday, January 8 and then have Soda Straw Rocktets on Monday, January 22 and Puzzles and Games on January 29.   These programs require tickets.  They are free and given out 30 minutes before the program starts.

Children 3-12 years old can show off their creativity on Thursday, January 14 at 4:30 pm  in a winter crafts program.   The hildren will be making a snowflake, a penguin craft, and a cute ninja.  Tickets are required.  They are free and availalbe starting 30 minutes before the program.

Babies and Toddlers each have fun playdates designed for their age groups.  Baby Playtime will be Friday, January 19 at 10:00 am.  This program is recommended for infants through 18 months old.   No tickets are needed for this program.  Toddlers in Motion will be on Friday, January 26 at 10:15 am.  This high-energy program is for toddlers from 18 months old to 3 years.  It features music, movement, bubbles, and playtim.  Tickets are requried.  They're given out at 10:00 am when the liibrary opens.

Tweens 8-12 years old will have special programs this month.  On Wednesday, January 24 at 4:30 pm, tweens can hear a booktalk about Linda Sue Park's Newbery award winning book "A Single Shard".   The children will get to work on a matching activity and do a craft based on the book.  Tickets are required and given out at 4:00 pm.  On Friday, January 26 at 4:00 pm, tweens 8-12 years old will enjoy tabletop games such as puzzles, Tsuro o Mancala and others.
