Thursdays at 3 PM the Parker Williams Library will be hosting a variety of different things for teens to do. Each week was a different idea planned from our Parker WIlliams Teen Leadership group to make the summer less boring.

June 8 – Teen Thursday – Engineering Challenge [13+]
What can you build with tin foil, dental floss, and paper? Find out and test your engineering skills. Join us for our first Teen Thursday program in the Library Community Room at 3 PM on June 8th. This the first challenge on the path to Building a Better World.

June 12 -Teen DIY and a Movie – Batman (PG-13) and 8-Bit Batman @ 3 PM [13+]

For the summer, we are celebrating iconic action movies of the 80s. We are starting off with the original 1989 Batman. Michael Keaton, Jack Nicholson, and Kim Basinger play the iconic Bob Kane characters that helped along Tim Burton’s career. While watching the movie, we will be using Perler fusable beads to make any number of Bat-tastic creations fused together by the heat of an iron. For a rousing good Bat-Time, join us in the Library Community Room on June 12th at 3 PM.

June 15 – Teen Thursday – TED Talk Mini-Marathon [13+]

Join us in the Library Community Room for a TED talk mini-marathon on June 15th at 3 PM at the Parker Williams Branch. We will open the floor up to any thoughts you may have after each talk and discuss any ideas you may have had. 

June 22 – Teen Thursday – Book Vs. Movie Discussion [13+]
Was the book better? Really? Or, was the movie better than the book? Join the debate on June 22nd at 3 PM in the Library Community Room as we take popular young adult books that were made into movies and discuss if the book or the movie was better or worse.

June 23 – Anime Club – Summer Wars (PG) 114 min @ 4 PM [10+]

The Parker Williams Branch Anime Club is starting the summer off with an extended edition by playing the feature film Summer Wars (PG, 114 min). What mischief can be made when a viral AI program is released into a digital environment? Find out on June 23rd at 4 PM in the Library Community Room.

June 29 – Teen Thursday – What’s Anime? [13+]
Have you ever wondered what anime is? Why is it so popular? Who really cares? As it turns out, A LOT of people care. Get a basic knowledge of the history, style, and pop culture that surrounds anime on June 29th at 3 PM in the Library Community Room.
