The Library Doesn't Close for Thanksgiving!
O.K. maybe no librarian will be at the library this coming weekend, Nov. 25- Nov. 28. Yes, perhaps the front doors at Maud Marks library will remain locked... but, that doesn't mean we're closed. Harris County Public Libraries are ALWAYS open online here at www.hcpl.net. You can find books, place holds, check your account, and pay fines using our catalog.
You can check out events at your local library and register for upcoming classes by clicking on our events calendar. Do you need to do some research or study for an upcoming test? Check out our magazine and homework help databases. Even if your car breaks down on your way from Aunt Jane's, we have you covered with our Chilton's database.
Not sure where to find information? You can chat with a certified librarian who will help you find out what ever you need to know.
Even checking out actual books and movies are not off limits while the physical library building is locked up tight. Just check out e-books and e-audio as well as movies and music on our HCPL Digital Media Catalog. Remember, this is a separate account that all HCPL library card holders have. Even if you have maxed out the number of items on your regular card, you can still check out up to 10 digital media items at a time.
Don't have a Harris County card yet? No problem! You can still get a temporary card and have access to all our databases during this long weekend. Just be sure to print out your form and take it into your local library with something with your name and current address on it on Monday so you can get your permanent library card and have access to our library services 24/7.
Wow, there is so much you can do without even leaving the comfort of your computer room at home! Have a happy Thanksgiving and we'll see you on Monday, November 29!
