March Events in the Children's Department

Here's some special events that will be happening in the Children's Department for March:

Family Storytime - Saturdays 3/3 and 3/17 at 11:00 am - No tickets needed for this fun storytime on a Saturday morning.

A morning preschool storytime starts this Monday, March 5 at 10:15 am.  If you enjoy our Tuesday and Wednesday afternoon storytimes at 1:30 pm, drop by and try out our additional time of 10:15 am on Mondays.  This program is recommended for 3-5 year olds.  Tickets given out at 10:00 am.

Maker Mondays - 3/5, 3/12, 3/19 and 3/26 at 4:30 pm.  This afterschool program for 5-12 year olds features a craft or activity each week.  Tickets given out at 4:00 pm.

Pajama Storytime - Thursdays 3/8 and 3/22 at 6:00 pm.  This storytime requires free tickets given out at 5:30 pm.  Children are welcome to wear pj's and bring a blankie or stuffed animal.

Firetruck Visit on Friday, March 9 - Meet the Houston firefighters from Station 72 and hopefully Station 71, too at 10:15 am.  No tickets needed for this fun time.  You can take a picture on the firetrucks!

Books Alive! Week - The Friends of Freeman Library bring a week of fun programs - Monday 3/12 - Marsha's Petting Zoo at 2:30-4:00 pm on Diana Lane side of library.  No tickets needed just some patience; Tuesday 3/13 - Spring Crafts at 2:30 pm,  Tickets given out at 2:00 pm for children 3-12 years old; Wednesday, 3/14 - Face Painting, Balloon Animals and a special visit from a surprise book character (or maybe even two book characters...).  No tickets needed for this program from 2:30-4:00 pm; Thursday, 3/15 - Magician Julian Franklin uses humor, puppets, and magic at 2:30 & 3:30 pm.  Tickets given out at 2:00 for 2:30 and 3:00 for 3:30 pm.  Friday, 3/16 - Baby Playtime for babies from infants through 18 months at 10:15 am.  No tickets needed.  Later, sidewalk chalk - 2:30-3:30 - no tickets needed for this fun and creative program on the Diana Lane side of the library.

Toddlers in Motion on Friday, March 23 at 10:15 am - this high-energy program features music and movement, so toddlers 18 months to 3 years old are encouraged to dress in comfortable clothing and shoes.  Tickets given out at 10:00 am.  Later in the day - Tween Tabletop Games - 4:00 pm - tickets given out at 3:30 pm.

Wednesday, March 28 at 4:30 pm - Book Club - this month featuring Beverly Cleary's "Beezus and Ramona".  This program for 5-12 year olds will feature a brief book talk and then a movie adaptation will be shown.  Tickets given out at 4:00 pm.  We have copies of the book available for check out.
