National Volunteer Week

April 23rd-29th is National Volunteer Week. Here at the Barbara Bush Library, we thrive because our volunteers are so dedicated. The staff at the Barbara Bush Library collaborated to create this fabulous display honoring all of the volunteers that are here on a regular basis. During your next visit to the library, be sure and check it out! It's located on the first floor near the elevator.

We'd like to thank all of our volunteers, past and present, as well as our Friends of the Library for going above and beyond on a daily basis to make our library such a wonderful place for our community!

If you are interested in volunteering, here are a few ways you can help!

Our Friends of the Library help to raise money that go on to fund library programs, and supplies. The Friends are also active volunteers and run our in house bookstore as well as other library related events in the community. The Friends assist in keeping the library a valuable asset to our community. If you'd like to join the Friends, please visit their website for more information and the online application. You can also get an application here at the library by speaking to one of our staff members at the Customer Service Desk on the first floor.
Teen Volunteers:
In our Children's Department, we have lots of teens (ages 15-18) that assist in various tasks such as program prep, arts and crafts, and shelving. Our teen volunteer program is one of our most popular programs, and space is limited. If you are interested in volunteering in the Children's Department, please talk to a Librarian in the Children's Department. All applicants must submit applications in person and attend an orientation.
For teens that belong to a charitable or school organization, you can also talk with a staff member in the Customer Service area about volunteering. For a complete list of charitable/school organizations, please visit our page
Adult Volunteers:
We have lots of Adult Volunteers, and they all do many different things here at the library. From ESL tutoring to shelving, there are tons of activities available for volunteers. If you're interested in volunteering, please fill out an application and submit it to any service desk at the library.
