New Graphic Novel Finds

Chew vol 1

A comic for food lovers, or maybe not…

Chew has one of the strangest premises I’ve seen in a while, and I just saw Snowpiercer, so that’s saying something: Tony Chu is a detective with a secret. A weird secret. Tony Chu is cibopathic, which means he gets psychic impressions from whatever he eats. It also means he's a hell of a detective - as long as he doesn't mind nibbling on the corpse of a murder victim to figure out whodunit and why. He's been brought on by the Special Crimes Division of the FDA, the most powerful law enforcement agency on the planet, to investigate their strangest, sickest and most bizarre cases.

Chew is definitely not for the faint at heart, as the book has its share of graphic violence and language.  However I quite enjoyed reading the book and look forward to finding the rest of the series.

The library has two holdings, Chew Vol 1 (which consists of issues 1-5) and Chew Vol 1 the Omnivore edition (which consists of issues 1-10)
