No more pencils, No more books, No more teacher's dirty looks

School is out for summer! The kids are celebrating and the parents are mourning. On the other hand the employees at Evelyn Meador Library are working hard organizing events for everyone (young and old) for the annual summer reading program. Let us help you plan your week:

Our Summer Reading Program kicks off June 4th at 1:30pm with a sign up and information session. Shortly thereafter, at 3:00pm, we have a visit with Orbit, the Mascot of the World Series Winning Astros! You will not want to miss this amazing event. Spaces ARE limited and we begin handing out tickets around 2:30pm for folks who wants to attend.

Me: Wait, there’s more!
You: How could there be more fun after such an awesome first day?
Me: Why, thank you for asking. (Do you like our inner dialogue as much as I do?)

On June 5th we have our very first Library Carnival! Come to the library as we celebrate the start of summer reading with outside games. Sign up for summer reading while playing Giant Jenga, Angry Birds, Battleship, and other activities in this amazing celebration of summer. Once you’ve had all that fun join us for an Excel 2016 - Data entry and editing techniques class at 7:00pm.

June 6th we have a Photo Editing & Coaster Making, (part 1) class at 1:30pm. Join us and learn techniques to turn a boring photo into an awesome image. We will also show you how to make a beautiful coaster with the enhanced photo. Later that day, at 4:00pm, the Seabrook Association hosts the popular create Seabrook Rocks program!

June 7th is all about spiders (or at least part of the day will be). Special guest Ellen Hutto from Saltgrass Science presents: All about Spiders! at 2:30. Following the creepy crawlers we have Box Fort Battles at 3:00pm and I promise you it will be one medieval fun time.

June 8th we piece together the week with a Puzzle Painting program at 1:00pm. Come to the Maker Space in the library to paint, color, or draw on a giant puzzle piece. Then come later to see these pieces displayed in the Teen Isle for the entire month of June! Also, don’t forget that Photo editing & coaster making, (part 2) is happening at 1:30pm that day.
