Not another High School Musical
Two weeks ago I walked into the theater at Katy Mills expecting to see a fluffy, no brain needed, teen flick. I walked out of the theater duly impressed by the depth of the plot, heading straight to the music store to pick up the fabulous soundtrack. The movie I saw was Bandslam.
This film starring, Gaelan Connell, Vanessa Hudgens, and Alyson Michalka has a fabulous soundtrack which includes music by David Bowie, the Velvet Underground, Nick Drake, and many indie bands including Texas' own Burning Hotels. I have two favorite songs on the album. Aly Michalka's cover of Cheap Tricks' I Want You to Want Me and the cover of Bread's Everything I Own. While waiting for the movie to come out on DVD you might want to familiarize yourself with these artists' albums in the library system.
