Ring in January 2019 with fun programs in the Children's Department

Start the new year by visiting the Children's Department for fun and educational programs for the younger set.   In addition to our regular morning and afternoon storytimes and other programs, we will have new, weekly programs on Wedensdays and Thursdays at 4:30 pm for tweens 8-12 years old.  

Starting Wednesday, January 2 at 4:30 pm, tweens 8-12 years will enjoy the weekly STEAM Tween programs featuring engaging, hands-on STEAM activities.  Tickets are given out at 4:00 pm.  The other new program is Bluebonnet Booktalk.   This program starts Thursday, January 10 at 4:30 pm.  For January, we'll be featuring Texas Bluebonnet books on the 2018-19 list.  From February-May, the Bluebonnet Booktalk features Texas Bluebonnet nominees from the 2019-20 list.

Thursday, January 3 - children of all ages can use their ceativity durng Crafta-palooza at 4:30 pm.  Tickets will be given out at 4:00 pm.  We're cleaning out some of the craft supplies, so we'll have lots of bits and pieces that children can use to create something fun.

Family Storytimes return on the 1st and 3rd Saturday of the month on Saturday, January 5 at 11:00 am.  No tickets are needed for this storytime featuring books, songs, and fingerplays.  Pajama Storytime returnns on Thursday, January 10 at 6:00 pm.  This storytime program is on the 2n and 4th Thursday.  It features stories, songs, and a craft.  Tickets are given out at 5:30 pm.

We'll have Baby Playtime on Friday, January 11 at 10:00 am.  No tickets are needed for this monthly program for infants through 18 months old.  Toddlers 18 months to 3 years old will enjoy Toddlers in Motion on Friday, January 25 at 10:15 am.  Tickets are given out at 10:00 am.

Children 5-12 years old will have fun during Maker Monday at 4:30 pm.  This weekly, afterschool program features activities or a craft.  Tickets will be given out at 4:00 pm.d
