Romance Among the Artificacts

I discovered Elizabeth Hunter, author of the Elemental Mysteries, through a discussion on the Facebook page of author Penny Reid.  I have to admit that as a librarian with an undergraduate degree in history, the fact that the main character is a librarian who works in special collections is what initially drew my interest.  Once I started reading and found out the book was set in Houston, what’s more, a fictionalized version of my undergraduate alma mater, I was even more interested.

As I began reading the first book, A Hidden Fire, I had a hard time putting it down because of the story, despite the fact that I have recently had zero interest in reading any paranormal romance.  It’s not overwhelmingly paranormal, if that makes sense, as it also has plenty of mystery, history, adventure, international travel and of course, romance!  Elizabeth Hunter’s books are available as eBooks through our eSelect collection, and we’ve recently added books from her Cambio Springs and Irin Chronicles series as well.

Remember, it’s not too late to sign up for the Summer Reading Program (June 1st-August 8th).  This year’s theme is “Reading is my Superpower”, and there are activities and prizes for all ages.  Make sure you check out what’s going on at your branch, and don’t forget to sign up and show off your superpower!
