Seabrook Author Donates Books

The Evelyn Meador branch received a generous donation of books from and by local author Carmen Bredeson (on right). She has written many books for young readers which can be found in the Harris County Library catalog. Her book, After The Last Dog Died: The True-Life, Hair-Raising Adventure Of Douglas Mawson And His 1911-1914 Antarctic Expedition, was awarded the Golden Kite award for non-fiction in 2004. The Golden Kite awards are given annually by the Society of Children’s Book Writers and Illustrators to recognize excellence in children’s literature.  Previously, Mrs. Bredeson served on the friends of the library board for the Maude Marks branch in Katy, TX.  Shortly after her move to our area, she joined the board of the friends group for the Evelyn Meador Branch.  We are really blessed to have an award winning children’s author on our friends’ board!
