This is a very intersting book - the best I read this summer. Just like me, Stink does not like it that Pluto is no longer a planet. Pluto should be called a planet, even though small! Avantika Matele
This account of the daily struggles and uncertainties of life, blended with the early history of Texas, is one of the best narratives about southeast Texas I've read.
China Miéville's Kraken. That book was amazing and it makes me feel foolish for not reading this author's (who has been recommended to me in the past) works sooner.
Still Alice by Lisa Genova is written by a neuro scientist and tells the story of a woman who has Alzhimer at 50. The book was discussed in Nancy's book discussion group and was very interesting. It has triggered me into research diet and brain health.
I agree that "Still Alice" was a great read and generated some great discussion at the Barbara Bush Library. It lead me to another book, "Turn of Mind" by Alice LaPlante, which I am reading on my sister's Nook. In this mystery, the prime suspect has Alzheimer's disease, and everyone, including her, is trying to figure out if she killed her best friend or not.
The summer Trilogy by Jenny Han. I may not be the exact demographic for this set of books (The Summer I Turned Pretty, Summer Isn't the Same Without You, and We'll Always Have Summer, but I absolutely adored them. I would call it a "guilty pleasure", but I am proud to say that I read and enjoyed these young adult fiction books!
"The Final Confession of Mable Stark", a historical novel presented in an engaging, descriptive (laugh out loud) manner .... Mabel Stark was the first female lion tamer in the U.S. I am reading this slowly, savoring each and every word for each word is important to the story. Five Stars!
